Dermal Filler Treatments
Dermal fillers encompass a wide range of injectable treatments and are used for replacing lost volume, softening deep facial lines, lifting and facial contouring. Filler can be placed in many places on the face, including the following area:
- Lips – You are in control and can have a subtle change to enhance the border of the lips or just give a little freshness and smoothing, to plumping the lips for a fuller effect.
- Nose to lip/ Lip to chin lines – Small amounts of filler carefully placed in these areas can freshen the mouth area and reduce these lines
- Cheek filler – Subtle enhancement in this area can improve the nose to lip lines and improve the jawline in a very natural way. As we age we lose some volume in this area so replacing this can restore a more youthful appearance and balance the face. For people who feel they lack shape in the cheek bone area it is also possible to contour and define.
- Tear trough filler – a tear trough is a deep crease/hollow between your lower eyelid and upper cheek. Careful placement of filler here will reduce this hollow/crease and freshen up the eye area
- Chin – this is often an area forgotten about in aesthetics but is essential to balance the face, Dr Tanja will often have this as part of her lip filler treatments to maintain balance in the lower face when treating the lips
- Temple filler – temporal hollows are the dipped areas around the sides of the upper face, essentially the lower sides of the forehead. These areas loose volume with ageing and can make the eyes look more tired. Careful placement of filler in these areas helps to freshen up the upper face and restore lost volume
- Forehead filler – flattening of the forehead can affect the whole profile of the face. This can be genetic or can develop over time. Filler in this area can help to improve the profile and overall shape of the face
- Jaw filler – filler is used in the jawline and chin area to enhance and shape a jawline. This is popular with our male patients in particular.
- Rhinoplasty – this is the procedure for reshaping your nose with the use of filler. This may involve correcting a lump or dip in the nose, refining the nasal tip and adjusting the overall shape of your nose.

Are the results instant and how long will they last?
The results are instant and can last between 6 to18 months depending on the type of filler used and the area treated.
Dr Tanja will usually see you at the clinic or arrange a video call review 3 weeks after your injections and depending on your needs, tweak any areas if required.
Does getting filler hurt?
Dermal filler injections are not generally painful procedures.
Dr Tanja uses cannulas for most of her filler treatments. This minimises the number of injections needed and is therefore a much more comfortable experience as you do not need multiple needle entry points. Using a cannula technique is also safer or the patient giving consistent reliable results without any significant bruising.
Any potential discomfort is minimised using a topically applied local anaesthetic cream prior to treatment, along with the lidocaine within the filler which helps ease any discomfort.

Our client after tear trough, cheek, lip, nose tip and temple filler, expertly placed giving a fresher look using the cannula technique.
Dermal filler aftercare
Dr Tanja will go through full aftercare instructions after your treatment, however there are a few general rules to follow once your filler has initially been done.
- Avoid touching the treatment area or using make up for the first 12 hours post treatment
- Avoid strenuous activity or exercise for 48 hours
- Until swelling and redness has resolved, do not expose the treatment area to intense heat (e.g. sun, saunas, sunbeds and also extreme cold)
- Remember that it can take up to 2 weeks for the swelling to go down, during this time the area may look uneven or bumpy. Just remember that this is not your final result and is part of the process
As an experienced clinician Dr Tanja will assess your whole face and advise as to where filler can be placed to achieve the best results for you and the look you would like to achieve.
