Lip Fillers vs Fotona Liplase – what’s the difference?
11/12/2020
Fotona Tightsculpting is the latest non-invasive, non-surgical body shaping procedure. It utilises laser energy to both reduce and sculpt fat tissue, as well as comfortably tightening the skin over the area treated. In this blog, the team at Dr Tanja Phillips Medical Aesthetics Clinic have answered some FAQs to guide you though this increasingly popular laser treatment!
Why might someone want Tightsculpting?
Changes to diet and exercise can help control weight, but for some it is impossible to reduce/contour fat deposits in certain areas of the body; ‘Love handles’ are a common area of concern for our patients. Not only does skin laxity diminish with age, but patients who have undergone significant weight loss can be left with loose/sagging skin that cannot be tackled with diet and exercise alone. That’s where we come in!
What does the treatment involve?
The treatment is completed in two phases, the first gives deep connective tissue tightening and fat reduction. Using Fotona’s PIANO® pulse mode, the energy is delivered to fat cells, which are stimulated and heated safely and comfortably.
The second phase of treatment focuses on tightening the superficial layers of skin using a non-ablative SMOOTH® mode. The energy from the laser both tightens collagen fibers and stimulates the production of new collagen. This results in effective tightening of the skin, enhanced elasticity, and gives the skin a more youthful overall appearance.
For some, both phases are not required and the second skin tightening phase can be performed as a stand alone treatment.
For patients undergoing fat reduction, we will take and record measurements of the area being treated before and after the session. Patients will often see a significant difference before leaving the clinic!
What are the key benefits?
- Tightsculpting is non-invasive. This means that there is no down time post treatment, so patients can drive away from clinic and resume their normal day to day almost straight away! Unlike the 2-8 week recovery time for some surgeries. No stitches, no bruising, no tell tell signs! Click here to read more about the benefits of laser treatments.
- Instant and long lasting results. As Tightsculpting works on reducing fat and stimulating new collagen growth it is recommended that patients undergo a course of treatments with each session building on the last. Patients can often see significant results before leaving the clinic, but maximum results are achieved over time as new collagen grows. It just gets better and better!
- A confidence boost. Tightsculpting will undoubtedly give patients a new found confidence, whether it’s a helping hand after significant weight loss, a post-kids pick me up or to help turn back the clock!
How many sessions would I need?
Our treatments are all bespoke and tailored to our patients individual needs. The treatment recommendations and number of sessions will be discussed during your initial consultation with Dr Tanja Phillips and will also depend of the patients desired outcome.
What does it feel like?
During the fat reduction phase, cool air is used along side the laser to ensure the correct temperature is achieved for the bulk tissue heating. This combined with the warmth of the laser can feel very comfortable.
The second phase (Skin tightening) is not accompanied by cool air and therefore, feels much hotter. However the way in which the laser moves and scans the skin means that the heat is manageable. Patients get used to the sensation very quickly and fantastic results are achieved.
How long does each session take?
Again, this will entirely depend on the area of treatment and the desired outcome of the patient. Treatment times can range from 45 minutes to 3 hours.
