If you’re looking to enhance your lips, our medical aesthetic clinic based in Hampshire offers both fillers and the Fotona Liplase treatment for lip augmentation. But, with two different lip enhancing treatments to choose from, what’s the difference and which treatment should you pick?
When people think of lip fillers the image often jumps to the overdone, over plumped lips that have been so prolific on social media and our TVs over the past few years.
However, lip fillers do not have to achieve this effect, in fact many people you know will have lip fillers and other fillers without you having a clue!
What is filler?
Lip fillers predominantly consist of hyaluronic acid which rejuvenates and plumps the lips. Most of us have heard of hyaluronic acid as a product that helps hold onto water and that is exactly what it does in the lips as well as when applied elsewhere in the face.
How can filler be used?
Lip fillers can be utilised in the subtlest of ways to soften fine lines and smooth the lips as well as used to increase volume and balance the lips. As we age we notice some loss in volume in the lips and some creasing appearing, both laser and filler can help with this. Filler will give an instant boost to the lips and will last for 6-9 months, depending on the individual and the product used.
Before having lip filler, it is very important to have a full assessment of your face. This is to ensure your face remains balanced and in proportion following any addition of filler. It is often because of this lack of assessment that some people with lip filler appear to have their lips protruding more than they should!
At the Dr Tanja clinic we will always assess you fully. We will always advise you on the best approach for YOU and YOUR face and one size definitely does not fit all. You can absolutely rest assured you are in safe hands with Dr Tanja and her team.
Fotona Liplase
Fotona LipLase is an innovative laser treatment that uses laser energy to stimulate collagen regeneration and plump lips. It is a firm favourite with the Dr Tanja Phillips team, and it is forever growing in popularity.
What is the Fotona Liplase treatment?
LipLase heats the deep layers of the lips to boost collagen production. The outside of the lips and surrounding skin is treated as well as the inner lips, stimulating collagen from both sides. Each session can take between 30-45 minutes, so it’s simple and quick to do. There is zero downtime or risk of bruising, which means patients can resume their daily activities straight away!
Who can benefit from it?
It is a great option for patients who may be needle-phobic, as the treatment is non-invasive. Not only that, for people that may have experienced adverse reactions to injectables in the past, this makes for a safe alternative.
What are the results?
It’s also great for those who are looking for a natural result; although patients do see a significant change before leaving the room, the results improve over a course of 3-4 sessions. This means patients get a subtle change over time with no tell-tell signs!
A maintenance treatment may be required in the following 6-12 months after a Liplase course, but this will depend on the individual. After we’ve given it a helping hand, the body’s natural collagen production is left to do its thing!
